SCO Family of Services
Therapist – Master’s level preferred, LMSW, LMSW -LP, LMHC.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To provide counseling services to clients with a substance use disorder, and their impacted family members and significant others.
REPORTS TO: Clinic Director
SUPERVISES: N/A
I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaboratively developed treatment plans with assigned clients.
Provide trauma-informed care, Evidenced Based Treatment to clients in accord with clinical privileges and prepare all materials for the clinical records.
Involve significant others in the course of treatment, as indicated.
Facilitate Comprehensive Assessments/Intakes.
Refer clients to other clinical personnel for other evaluative services.
Provide referral for case management services, or perform case management services if no CM assigned.
Prepare referral material for clients to secure services from other community resources, such as SPA services, housing, case management, vocational services and/or otherwise.
Prepare reports requested by referring agencies, unified reports.
Participate in staff meetings, in-service training programs and consultation with team members.
Comply with agency and OASAS policies/procedures/regulations.
Participate in training and integrate evidence-based treatment in provision of clinical services, provide individual therapy, family therapy sessions.
Provide in-home therapy sessions, as clinically appropriate and indicated.
Administer and score screening instruments to identify alcohol or other drug use problems.
Administer and score screening instruments for gambling and assess for nicotine use.
Accept other assignments at the requests of Clinic Supervisor/Director.
II. QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree in Behavioral health (MSW, MFT, MHC) and licensed by New York State, with minimum of one year clinical work experience in the chemical dependence field. For social workers, LMSW, LMSW-LP is acceptable. MSW’s must have Limited Permit until licensure is obtained. CASAC acceptable

Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization.
Possess a strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change through recovery from substance abuse. Provide Person Centered Treatment.
Ability to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately.
