Position The Quality Control Inspector ensures all paint truck units meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements in alignment with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS). This role includes inspection of paint application, welding, assembly, electrical systems chassis components, and fit and finish throughout the manufacturing process. The inspector is responsible for identifying nonconformances, initiating NCRs, supporting Corrective Action Reports (CARs), and assisting with Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.

Responsibilities

Perform incoming inspection of chassis upon delivery to verify compliance with purchase order and customer specifications.

Check for damage, missing components, and proper documentation (serial numbers, certificates).

Ensure chassis meets dimensional and structural requirements before production begins.

Inspect for orange peel, adhesion, runs, chipping, and other imperfections on all painted surfaces.

Inspect structural and cosmetic welds for penetration, alignment, and adherence to welding WPS and QMS requirements.

Ensure welds are free from cracks, porosity, weld splatter, and other imperfections.

Verify correct assembly of welded components to ensure proper fit, alignment, and structural integrity.

Confirm correct installation of truck body components, hardware, and accessories per approved drawings and specifications.

Compare assemblies against engineering drawings to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with design requirements.

Validate torque specifications, alignment, and secure fit of panels and structural parts.

Inspect wiring harnesses, connectors, and electrical components for proper routing and functionality.

Test lighting, control systems, and safety circuits per documented procedures.

Perform operational checks on all installed systems and components.

Inspect for leaks, unusual noises, and verify fluid levels during functional tests.

Ensure all moving parts, hydraulics, and electrical systems operate per specifications.

Assess overall appearance, alignment, and sealing of doors, panels, and trim.

Verify decals, labels, and accessories meet aesthetic and functional requirements.

Follow documented QMS procedures for inspection, testing, and reporting.

Ensure traceability of inspection records and maintain compliance with ISO standards.

Participate in internal audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) for any product or process deviations from specifications or standards. Apply decantation signage as applicable (proper application and signing of “Accept”/“Reject”/“Rework or Repair” tags or other notifications to parts or assemblies).

Assist QA Manager in root cause analysis and collaborate with the engineering team and production teams to resolve issues.

Assist QA Manager in tracking and closing NCRs and Corrective Action Reports (CARs) in accordance with QMS requirements.

Support Return Material Authorization (RMA) process by documenting defective parts and submitting required information to QA Manager.

Review and submit all inspection and verification sheets with job packets to QA Manager for recordkeeping and compliance.

Perform other duties as assigned by QA Manager.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.

2–3 years of experience in quality inspection within truck, automotive, or heavy equipment manufacturing.

Knowledge of paint processes, welding standards, electrical systems, and assembly practices.

Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and customer specifications.

Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 principles, NCR/CAR/RMA processes, and documentation requirements.

Proficiency with inspection tools (calipers, gauges, paint thickness meters).

Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
