Program Management Location:
Sterling Heights, MI Basic Purpose and Objective Seeking an experienced Plant Launch Program Manager to lead the successful introduction of new automotive programs at our advanced manufacturing facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This role is pivotal in coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, on-budget launches of vehicle components for key OEMs like General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis. You will oversee the entire launch lifecycle, from concept to production ramp-up, while mitigating risks and ensuring seamless integration into plant operations. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in automotive program launches, strong leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex supply chains in a high-stakes environment. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Lead the planning and execution of new product launches, including timeline development, resource allocation, and milestone tracking using tools like MS Project or similar. Coordinate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) phases, ensuring alignment with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions and customer requirements. Manage cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain) to resolve issues during prototyping, pilot builds, and full-scale production. Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and facilitate gate reviews to meet program gateways and SOP (Start of Production) dates. Oversee supplier integration, tooling procurement, and equipment installation to support launch readiness in the Sterling Heights plant. Monitor budget, scope, and schedule; report progress to senior management and customers through dashboards, status reports, and executive presentations. Drive continuous improvement post-launch, analyzing lessons learned and implementing best practices for future programs. Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, safety standards, and environmental regulations during all launch activities. Collaborate with plant operations to optimize floor layout, workforce training, and capacity planning for new lines. Handle customer interactions, including launch reviews, audits, and escalation of critical issues. Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Automotive), Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or PMP certification preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in program management within the automotive industry, with at least 3 years focused on plant launches in a Tier 1 supplier or OEM setting. Proven expertise in automotive launch processes, including APQP, PPAP, and run-at-rate validations. Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, AIAG standards, and OEM-specific requirements (e.g., GM's GP-10, Ford's QOS). Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP). Demonstrated ability to manage multimillion-dollar budgets and lead diverse teams in a manufacturing environment. Willingness to travel up to 20% for supplier visits, customer meetings, or off-site trials. Exceptional organizational and leadership skills with a track record of delivering complex programs on time. Strong analytical abilities for risk management, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interface with stakeholders at all levels, including executives and external partners. Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency during launches. Adaptability to fast-paced changes in automotive trends, such as electrification and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and visualizations.
