The Stewards Individual Placement Program places individual placements across the nation in projects that build capacity, improve access to natural resources, develop and support innovative solutions, develop opportunities for service and economic development, and empower leaders. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Purpose: Stewards Individual Placements, a division of Conservation Legacy, provides individuals with AmeriCorps service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural and cultural resources. The mission of the National Mall's Division of Interpretation and Education is to provide a world-class experience through frontline services for national and international visitors with a focus on five specific themes: Explaining and protecting Symbols of American Democracy, Illustrating the notion of E Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One), Protecting and maintaining Places of Honor, Creating space for Continuing Dialogue, and Connection through Renewal and Recreation. Stewards Individual Placements, in partnership with the National Mall & Memorial Parks are seeking an AmeriCorps service member who will support regular programming and direct engagement of school groups within the Interpretation and Education Division. This position will be supported by two full-time rangers that will direct the AmeriCorps Member’s development of school-age programming and talks on subjects related to American Independence and the establishment of the District of Columbia, and the National Mall. The scope of work includes working with large school groups, giving presentations and providing educational talks, creation of web and social media content, visitor correspondence, America 250 preparation, and educational programming. The selected member’s efforts will improve visitor experiences by providing multiple opportunities for engagement as the country nears a milestone commemoration of 250 years. The National Mall & Memorial Parks are continually looking to improve operations to be adaptable, innovative and responsive to visitor needs; we are seeking a candidate that can exhibit those same qualities. JOB DUTIES
Description of Duties: To achieve the goals of this position, the member will: Provide support in creating virtual lessons and facilitating activities for young students Responsible for in-person engagement and tours for student groups that visit the National Mall Coordinate a planting project for the re-establishment of flower gardens at the Belmont Paul House in respect to historic and cultural significance Participate in special events and programming (Cherry Blossom Festival, Park Community Days, etc.) Assist development of Junior Ranger program and materials REQUIREMENTS ADDITIONAL BENEFITS CONTACT INFORMATION RELATED JOBS
