Job Title: FAI / Quality Inspector
Department: Quality Assurance Location: Wichita, KS Reports To: Quality Manager / Safety Officer Job Summary
The FAI / Quality Inspector is responsible for performing First Article Inspections (FAI) and in-process inspections of aircraft components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory standards. This role supports production by verifying quality at various stages and maintaining accurate documentation in systems such as Net-Inspect. Key Responsibilities
Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 standards. Create FAIs using Discus to bubble engineering drawings and specifications. Review and approve FAI’s created in Discus. Input inspection results and documentation into Net-Inspect and other quality systems. Perform in-process and final inspections of aircraft parts and assemblies. Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards. Identify and report non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis. Collaborate with planning, production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues. Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or quality inspection. Strong understanding of AS9102 and FAI processes. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T. Experience with Net-Inspect and Discuss systems. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Good communication and teamwork skills. Preferred Skills
Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 standards. Experience with CMM or other precision measurement tools. Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, etc.). Compensation
