What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Draft State Implementation Plans (SIPs) in compliance with the Clean Air Act, including pollutant-specific nonattainment areas
Conduct moderately complex legal analysis to support rule writing and development strategies
Write and coordinate state environmental regulations with various governmental offices
Engage with the public through meetings, hearings, and presentations for the regulated community
Collaborate internally with ADEQ Sections and externally with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure data-driven SIPs
What is Required (Qualifications)
Minimum of two years of relevant experience, with a Juris Doctor degree substituting for this experience
Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including the Clean Air Act
Skills in legal research, writing, and project management
Ability to draft state rules and State Implementation Plans while ensuring accuracy in legal research
Strong communication skills for summarizing tasks and presenting data
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree or higher in law, public policy, environmental science, or a related field
Juris Doctor Degree or Paralegal Degree/Certification is preferred
Familiarity with environmental and administrative procedures
