Shift Time: Dayshift (Variable) - Rotating every 3rd weekend Essential job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Verifies patient identification and the procedure requested or prescribed. Verifies patient’s pregnancy status. Assesses patient risk for allergic reaction to medication prior to administration. Reviews lab values prior to medication administration. Explains effects and potential side effects of medications. Prepares and administers IV and oral contrast agents. Monitors patient for reaction to medication. Assesses patient vital signs as needed. Determines the need for and selects supplies, accessory equipment, shielding, and positioning and immobilization devices. Provides an accurate explanation and instructions regarding exams and procedures. Addresses questions and concerns regarding exams and procedures. Educates the patient about the risks and benefits of radiation. Positions patient for anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Performs QA on images and ensures proper transfer to PACS while electronically completing the exam in a timely manner. Selects appropriate radiation exposure factors using the principles of ALARA. Employs proper radiation safety practices and uses lead protective devices appropriately. Controls access to radiation exposure areas. Obtains and prepares supplies, medications and equipment for sterile and specialized radiological procedures. Use sterile or aseptic technique when indicated. Performs procedural timeout. Explains post-procedural instructions to patient or patient’s family. Complies with all federal, state, local and regulatory agency requirements. Patient Safety: Each staff member is responsible for minimization of radiation exposure using ALARA principles, equipment safety and overall patient safety. Patient schedules: Assist lead tech in prioritizing the needs of referring physicians and patients to accommodate add-on exams into daily schedules. Protocols: Assist in development, implementation, changes and updates of protocols as needed. CQI & QA: May be required to participate in CQI and QA yearly plans and activities (as approved by Director). Patient Experience: Accountable for improvement of patient experience and satisfaction scores for both the modality and the department. Staffing & Scheduling: Contribute to staffing schedules that meet physicians and patient needs while respecting productivity standards and budgets. PACS: Ensure images and studies transfer to PACS in a timely and quality manner and resolve issues with the PACS Administrator. Staff Training/Orientation: Participate in training of new employees and support orientation initiatives. Staff Development: Assist leadership in teaching or improving skills among coworkers. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain readiness to be compliant with DNV, CMS and other regulating agencies; adhere to scopes set by State of Montana, DNV, CMS, ARRT and ASRT. Equipment maintenance: Communicate equipment issues and coordinate with leadership and vendors as needed. Department Projects: Participate in department projects such as accreditation, quality and performance improvement initiatives, and department promotion to physicians, community and patients. Inventory: Assist in ordering and management of inventory. Modality Liaison: Maintain positive, professional communications between modalities and other departments to ensure smooth patient care. Positive and promotional: Model positive interactions and promote colleagues, physicians, hospital, and medical group. Other assignments as requested by leadership team. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology required and eligible to sit for ARRT registry exam. EDUCATION

Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology required. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY

Current license in the State of Montana as a Radiology Technologist and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or a temporary license in the State of Montana and ARRT registry eligible with ARRT guidance required. Permanent license and registration with ARRT will be required within 5 months of hire. Current BLS is required. Aptitudes

Demonstrated interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Demonstrated ability to receive feedback and adapt to a changing environment, which requires scheduling flexibility and department adaptability.
