Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive health care to eligible beneficiaries in an ambulatory setting in association with staff physicians and other medical staff.
Provide care and treatment of acute illness or injury, chronic illness, preventative health measures, health maintenance, and health education services.
Provide follow-up care to patients to ascertain compliance with recommendations and response to treatment.
Analyze and interpret routine laboratory results.
Prescribe and dispense medications.
Maintain a complete electronic medical record for each patient, recording subjective and objective findings, and documenting assessment and plan for each visit.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirement For Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner/Family Practice)
Degree:
A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in
Nurse Practitioner
is required. This education must have been accredited by recognized accrediting bodies. You must attach a copy of your transcripts.
Foreign Degree:
A degree from a Foreign Nursing School requires official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools.
Licensure:
A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a U.S. state or territory; you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Licensure (Specialty):
A current, active, full, and unrestricted license in the specialty of
Family Practice Nurse Practitioner
or related specialty from a U.S. state or territory.
Exemption:
You may be exempt if you are a current federal employee occupying the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupation since a certain date; documentation will be required.
Requirements
In addition to the basic requirement, you must also meet the following qualification requirements:
Professional Nursing Experience:
One or more full years of professional nursing experience including conducting physical examinations, prescribing medications, and ordering/interpreting laboratory or diagnostic tests. This aligns with the typical responsibilities at the next lower grade level (GS-0610-11).
Note:
Some federal jobs allow substituting education for experience; for this position, you must meet the qualification using experience alone—no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
