Job Description Summary
The RN: Float Mixed Acuity provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The Float Pool provides support to inpatient units including mixed acuity/PCU units. Float pool staffing ensures safe, quality patient care and supports unit colleagues. You will have opportunities to expand knowledge and maintain an expansive skill set with a variety of patients throughout the facility.

Responsibilities
Conduct systematic, continuous assessments of patient health status from admission to discharge, ensuring patient safety and collaborating with the healthcare team, patient, and family.
Independently administer medications per licensure, assess effects, and document administration in a timely manner according to policies and regulatory requirements.
Plan care with patient and family using current knowledge and standards; develop individualized, age-specific plans; incorporate data from the multidisciplinary team.
Identify and prioritize patient problems based on assessment data, safety considerations, goals, and preferences; implement nursing interventions to meet needs.
Assess and evaluate patient and family teaching; tailor to age, learning needs, and cultural background.
Evaluate care outcomes and revise the plan of care in collaboration with the care team to promote safety and desired outcomes; intervene as needed to prevent adverse events.
Advocate for patients and families; prepare for discharge and obtain feedback to promote satisfaction.
Collaborate with unlicensed assistive personnel while ensuring safe patient care delivery.
This Position Also
Demonstrates professional conduct and accountability for actions and outcomes.
Orients new team members and may supervise students.
May act as relief charge nurse when needed.
Maintains professional competency through ongoing education, licensure, and practice.
Participates in evidence-based practice and stays up-to-date with regulatory standards.
Communicates constructively within the healthcare team and helps resolve interdepartmental issues.
Performs duties in a cost-effective manner, while maintaining quality of care.
Complies with all company policies and HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Shift Requirements
Shift Length: Typical 8-12 hours.
Overtime Required: Sometimes
Location: The RN-Float: Mixed Acuity will work shifts at various units and facilities, based on staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
UofL Health will accept a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) from the NCSBN in lieu of a Kentucky Nursing License, per the KBN.
