$27.63 Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a professional educator, school nurse, and/or building administrator, provide for educational, personal, and physical needs of students with complex health needs Responsible for assessment and intervention of complex health and medical needs including respiratory status, seizure management, G-tube feedings, positioning in a wheelchair, student’s communication, etc. Coordinate day to day educational program, implementing lesson plans and making decisions about medical, educational, and personal priorities Responsible for integration efforts on a day to basis Provide emergency care as needed Administer medications and carry out nursing procedures under the delegation of the school nurse Notify appropriate personnel of emergency situations, including parents, physicians, building personnel, and hospitals Assist the student in specialized physical education and other related activities Maintain, set-up, clean, sort supplies, equipment for the student\'s physical environment Follow all MMSD District and Health Services Guidelines and emergency protocols for students Other duties as assigned when the student is not in attendance Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse students, staff, and community, orally and in writing Ability to make judgments and perform when confronted with emergency situations Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, reaching and kneeling (Medical exam required for employees transferring from EA job to NA or SEA job) Good communication and teamwork skills Desire to work with children with complex medical conditions Commitment to the model of full integration Ability to ride bus to and from school with the student Position Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a NLNAC- or CCNE-accredited program. Official transcripts required for formal employment. RN or LPN and CPR/AED certification Certification from the Department of Public Instruction as a Special Education Aide Prior experience working with children with complex medical conditions Prior experience with O2, G-Tubes, diapering, positioning, adaptive wheelchairs Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to improving cultural competence Desired Qualifications
