Job Description
The Lab Technician is primarily responsible for performing various routine bacteriological, chemical, and analytical tests on ingredients, in‑process, and finished products to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
Conduct micro testing using Rapid Analyzer ATP. Perform analytical testing and wet chemistry analysis including pH, salts, viscosity, fats, and moisture. Execute stability testing and detail paperwork. Perform microbiological testing procedures for verifying commercial sterility of finished products. Execute the Environmental Monitoring Program. Coordinate storage, organization, and shipment of finished product samples. Execute the Water Testing Program and Sensory Program for finished products. Create Certificates of Analysis (COA) and execute the communication process for finished product release. Coordinate verification, calibration routines, and maintenance programs for laboratory equipment and instruments. Develop and validate quality assurance testing methods. Coordinate external lab testing programs. Provide support and execute the positive release process for finished products. Contribute to root cause analysis of customer complaint investigations. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of FSQ documentation practices. Maintain organization, cleanliness, and housekeeping of the FSQ Lab area. Order and perform inventory control for supplies and reagents. Assist in the management of the sample retain inventory, including moving and organizing materials in the warehouse. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in biology, chemistry, microbiology, and laboratory practices. Experience in pH measurement and auditing. Proficiency with pipetting, with at least 2 years of experience in school or industry. Aseptic technique.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in the Sciences.
Work Environment
This position is based in a food manufacturing facility and a micro & chemistry lab. The majority of the workday, approximately 90%, will involve performing analyses in the lab. The team, consisting of four lab technicians, tests an average of 1,200 samples per day across all shifts. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with shifts from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Initial training will occur from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for 1 to 4 weeks until the new hire is comfortable. A company uniform, consisting of blue pants, a shift shirt, and a lab coat, is provided.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00–$21.00 per hour.
