Responsibilities
Manage the WIU Student Teaching Program and oversee field experiences for P‑12 and secondary programs.
Secure student teaching placement sites (state and out‑of‑state) with Field Supervisors.
Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with PK‑12 schools.
Provide in‑service activities for university student teaching supervisors, cooperating teachers, and student teachers.
Act as a conduit to facilitate recruitment efforts for COEHS partners.
Assist with student teacher/co‑operating teacher issues related to the student teaching experience beyond the regular work day.
Provide support to student teachers before, during, and after the experience.
Qualifications
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in public schools.
Approved Illinois State Police background check / FBI fingerprint check.
Knowledge and experience with a variety of educational technology applications (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Forms, Jotform, Survey Money, word processing, and spreadsheet software).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of the Danielson Teacher Evaluation Framework.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with college‑age students in clinical/field‑based courses and student teaching.
Experience working with district administration to set up field experience and student teaching placements for education students.
Experience with virtual conferencing and observation.
Degree must be conferred from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body) at the time of appointment.
