Patient Care Technician (PCT) – St. Francis Medical Center – PRN

Job Summary A Patient Care Technician provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. Responsibilities include sanitizing rooms, monitoring vital signs, assisting with feeding and grooming, and providing high‑level customer service.
Essential Job Functions Provides basic patient care, including vital sign measurement, personal care, and hygiene. Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns. Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated and mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques. Documents patient care accurately, timely and precisely. Participates in hand‑off/report of pertinent information upon arrival and departure.
Education & Licensure No formal education required. BLS Basic Life Support (preferred; must obtain before direct patient care). Must have completed one of: successful completion of a nursing aide training program, STNA state‑tested nurse aide, CNA, or equivalent clinical experience.
Experience & Skills Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long‑term care facility preferred. Proactive problem‑solving, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
Training EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training is preferred.
