Job Summary A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. Responsibilities include sanitizing and cleaning patient rooms, monitoring vital signs, assisting with basic needs such as feeding and grooming, and providing high‑level customer service to patients, families, and staff.
Essential Job Functions
Provide basic patient care, including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assistance with mobility.
Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
Deliver high‑level customer service to patients, families, and employees.
Document patient care accurately, precisely, and in a timely manner.
Participate in hand‑off/reporting of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and departure.
Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques that foster independence and safety.
Encourage patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
Individualize care based on patient interests and hobbies.
Education None required.
Licensure / Certification BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must be obtained from an approved source prior to direct patient care).
Completed one of the following:
Successful completion of a nursing aide training program.
Successful passing of the STNA State‑Tested Nurse Aide test (required if OH LTC).
CNA Certified Nurse Aide.
State testing for Nurses Aide or completion of a nursing program that included one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
One year of relevant clinical experience.
Experience Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long‑term care facility is preferred.

Training EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
