. Duties/Responsibilities:
Field – Lead multi-location snapbean variety trial to characterize horticultural traits to identify promising breeding lines that can be evaluated across Southeast US for potential release. Percentage of time:
50 Duties/Responsibilities:
Greenhouse – Lead trichome characterization in pepper and tomato in relation to host resistance. Assist the internal collaborators with whitefly and other insect screening. Percentage of time:

Laboratory – Assist in post-harvest fruit quality analysis and collaborate with internal and external collaborators. Percentage of time:

Prepare peer-reviewed publications, participate in grant proposal preparation, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, and seasonal workers research activities in lab, greenhouse, and field set up. Percentage of time:

- Lead plant breeding and pre-breeding research in START-UP SETTING since it is relatively new breeding program and it is TIME DEMANDING. - Strong knowledge of breeding methods used in vegetable breeding. - Handle and operate analytical biochemistry, molecular biology, and high-throughput phenotyping equipments and tools. - Understand statistical principles and applications to be applied in breeding research. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Interest in collaborative research and ability to work in multicultural team. - Obtain driving license and operate the vehicle. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:
PhD in Plant Breeding or equivalent topic
Prior experience in pre- and post-harvest biochemistry and physiology, electron microscopy, pre-breeding, genomic selection, disease resistance screening, and wet lab research. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :
Proficiency in script writing using Python or R Experience with generation and bioinformatic analysis of metabolomics, transcriptomics, and sequencing data. Physical Demands:
- We are looking for highly dedicated team member who would share our vision since this is a new breeding program and it is sort of a START-UP so it is very TIME DEMANDING. - We are looking for someone who is Go Getter and ready to take the challenge to complete the assigned task. -During the peak of the season, we work on the weekends and long hours to get things done. Additionally, multi-location field trial may will need frequent travel to different research locations and may need early morning and late evening travels when needed.
