Fairview Hospital’s Progressive Coronary Care Unit (PK II) focuses on cardiology patients with emphasis on cardiothoracic surgery, dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring, and heart failure. Overview
As a Health Unit Coordinator, you will provide a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and other caregivers to promote and support positive patient experiences. You will perform administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow in the assigned department, thriving in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. Respond to patient call lights and make rounds. Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information. Coordinate and send out pages to physicians, especially during emergencies like traumas and strokes. Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. Minimum qualifications
High School Diploma or GED One year of experience in a customer service-related role Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework Preferred qualifications
College degree Microsoft Office experience Previous healthcare experience Physical requirements
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. Personal Protective Equipment
