The 16-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at South Pointe Hospital treats patients with conditions that require advanced medical, surgical and cardiac care. As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer exceptional customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience. Using your administrative and clerical skills, you will help ensure an efficient operational flow of the department, enabling caregivers to continue providing optimal patient care.
A caregiver in this position works part-time nights from 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements.
Responsibilities
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assist with unit clerical functions and in troubleshooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
One year of experience in a customer service-related role
Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications
College degree
Microsoft Office experience

Pay Pay Range: Minimum hourly $18.25; Maximum hourly $24.95. The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after considering factors such as work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings contributions, etc.).
Physical requirements
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extended periods.
Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
