Overview
The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Burn. Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience. This position is 100% research. Duties And Responsibilities
Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support the research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding Writes and publishes research in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals; attends and presents research at national and international conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in department, college and university committees and initiatives Requirements
PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals (preferred) Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01) Academic experience is a plus qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience Department/Division Overview
The Department of Surgery, led by Dr. Timothy Pawlik, offers extensive clinical, research and educational opportunities. The division provides surgical care for trauma, burns, urgent and emergent general surgery conditions and surgical critical care. The division has multiple NIH funded translational surgeon-scientists and a track record of development from mentored awards to independent scientists.
