Job Summary
The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor of General Psychiatry. Applicants must have completed a residency in Psychiatry and be board‑certified or board‑eligible in General Psychiatry. The selected candidate must be eligible for licensure in Georgia. Providers will provide attending physician services and resident/fellow supervision at outpatient clinics in the department.
Responsibilities
Provide general psychiatry services through the outpatient clinic at the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior with or without learners present.
Attend 80% of departmental meetings and grand rounds.
Maintain licensure.
Required Qualifications
MD, DO, MBBS, or foreign equivalent.
Assistant Professor – early‑level faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
Associate Professor – mid‑level faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable experience.
Professor – senior‑level faculty member with at least five years at rank of Associate Professor or comparable experience.
Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
Evidence of ability as a teacher.
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
Successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Fellowship in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
Shift / Salary / Benefits This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. The intended work commitment is 1.0 full‑time equivalent (FTE). Salary and compensation for each rank are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds. Employees with more than 6 months of service may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.
