Position Overview EastPointe Hospital is a private, free‑standing psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescent males (ages 12‑18) located in Daphne, AL. The facility’s clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate adults and adolescents in psychiatric crisis. Treatment focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment. Adults and/or adolescents admitted exhibit life‑threatening, destructive, or disabling behavior or symptoms. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24‑hour clinical care for the duration of their stay. The goal is for each patient to return to home or to the least restrictive level of care.
Essential Functions
Completion of the admission process for consumers including Nursing Assessments, Medical Checklist/Physical Health/Nutritional screening, Medication List, Medication Administration Record, vital signs, height/weight, transcribing physician orders, AIMS, and admission notes.
Observe consumers’ behavior in groups and activities, document observations in consumer records, interact with consumers, and evaluate needs to ensure that proper information is reported from shift to shift and during staffing with the Treatment Team.
Supervise nursing care, overseeing routine task assignments of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and Behavioral Aides/Specialists.
Administer medications, observing the Six Rights of medication administration.
Provide medication education for the consumer and family, including uses and potential side effects, and monitor consumers for potential side effects of medications and report findings to the physician.
Communicate effectively with the physician regarding the consumer’s physical and mental condition.
Interface with the multi‑disciplinary team and actively participate in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
Perform venipuncture for laboratory requests, monitor results, and report all abnormal findings to the physician.
Provide emergency care as needed (CPR, MindSet, PRN medications) according to AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
Assist consumers with personal care issues (bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene items).
Demonstrate willingness to work on any unit at EastPointe or BayPointe based on facility needs and as directed by the supervisor.
Recognize the elements of a crisis state and know how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
Assist with Seclusion and Restraints per AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
Effectively demonstrate the application of child/adolescent/adult competencies.
Adhere to professional code of ethics.
Seek clinical supervision and consultation needs.
Accept and employ suggestions for improvement.
Actively work to enhance clinical skills.
Document in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy.
Document in a clear, concise manner types of consumer problems, treatment goals, and services provided.
Documentation shows that forms, notes, logs, and other applicable written information are completed promptly, accurately and updated when appropriate.
Document legibly.
Maintain courteous and respectful attitudes towards consumers, visitors, and co‑workers.
Treat consumers with care, dignity, and compassion.
Respect consumers’ privacy and confidentiality.
Be pleasant and cooperative with others.
Assist consumers and visitors as needed.
Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others.
Be sensitive to the consumers’ needs, expectations, and individual differences.
Be gentle and calm with consumers and families.
Perform administrative and other related duties as assigned.
Actively participate in Performance and Improvement activities.

Access appropriate community resources according to consumer needs.
Follow AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
Maintain current state license and requirements for renewals.
Attend required in‑services and workshops.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, sitting, and walking in bursts of 5‑10 minutes; may include extended pacing, sitting, or standing as needed.
Occasional forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side.
Occasional full squat/lunge from a standing position.
Occasional maintenance of back extension while on stomach with body weight on hips and legs for several minutes.
Occasional use of one knee and one elbow on same side to maintain position.
Occasional kneel and reach to same side toward the floor.
Lift up to 10 lbs from floor to various levels, including overhead.
Lift up to 50 lbs to assist in Activities of Daily Living; lift from floor to waist.
Strong grasp to use keys and maintain constant contact with a consumer during restraints or hold techniques.
Push/pull force up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Ambulate quickly (e.g., jog/run up to 0.1 mi) to assist coworkers with a restraint procedure.
Some activities may require playing or games inside or outside the facility.
Current Alabama Registered Nurse License required.
AltaPointe requires that all new employees be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19. Candidates who are not fully vaccinated at the time of hire may receive a reasonable amount of time to obtain vaccinated status.
