Medical Assistant/Secretary - NHMP Danbury Vascular Surgery, Danbury, CT - 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, variable 8 hour shifts 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Responsibilities
Greets and brings patient back from waiting room to clinical area. Performs intake activities and documents information including vital signs, current medications and allergies, verifies EMR reflects current PCP, referring provider, and preferred pharmacy.
Transcribes and updates patient information in the patient record. Records demographic, medication history, social and medical history as reported by the patient.
Provides clerical and secretarial support for patient care. Prepares and organizes patient charts for assigned providers; completes paperwork such as disability forms and scans pertinent patient information.
Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation as assigned.
Maintains cleanliness and stocking of the examination area. Conducts weekly/monthly environmental rounds as assigned.
Prepares patients for scheduled visits to ensure timely flow, including patient gowning, providing necessary paperwork, supplies and educational materials for provider use.
Conducts in-office testing as directed by the provider; coordinates testing and outside ancillary services; provides pre-test instructions as applicable.
Collects, prepares and processes specimens; logs results and reconciles in the patient record.
Maintains inventory and ensures upkeep, cleaning and testing of medical equipment; completes appropriate logs.
Mentors and educates colleagues on procedures as new team members join the group.
Performs pathology and other audits as assigned by supervisor.
Demonstrates and maintains in-office surgical procedure competencies as applicable, including setup, sterile prep, recovery and room turnover under RN direction.
Interacts with patients and colleagues according to Nuvance Health Medical Group service standards.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED. New or experienced graduate of a Medical Assistant program, or Nursing Assistant training program, or EMT certification, or 3 years of related medical office experience. Basic medical knowledge and terminology. Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
Minimum Experience:
One year
Desired:
CPR certification preferred. Bilingual preferred.
Compensation and Benefits Salary Range:
$18.82 - $33.48 hourly (based on years of relative experience)
