Job Description Summary The Rehab Technician is a non‑licensed caregiver who works under the direction of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and/or Assistant to aid in the provision of patient care. The technician will be involved with patient preparation, components of certain interventions, and post‑treatment procedures. Specific tasks will be determined by the specific therapy provider (PT, OT, or SLP). The Technician attends to daily tasks of departmental organization and upkeep, and may serve as an office coordinator or liaison when requested by the department leader.
Essential Functions
Administers components of interventions (therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activity, gait training, activities of daily living); specific functions and tasks will be determined by the therapy provider (PT, OT, or SLP)
Performs setup for exercise, evaluation, or modality equipment
Assists in transfer and/or transport of patients, as needed
Take vital signs, as needed
Assists therapist with initiation and monitoring of patients on available therapy and exercise equipment within the rehab department
Monitors departmental supply level
Performs clerical duties (answers phones, scheduling, data entry, filing)
Reports any and all status changes regarding patient to supervising Therapist or Assistant
Maintains organization and cleanliness of all patient care equipment and treatment areas
Other Functions
Initiates orders for repairs and routes non-functioning equipment for repair
Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
Performs other duties as assigned
Shift Requirements Shift requirements vary depending on work setting and location, and may include evenings and weekends in acute/inpatient settings.
Education
High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
Experience
Previous clerical experience (preferred)
Experience as Physical Therapy Tech (preferred)
Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
