Overview

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Manager of Hospital Supervisors and CNO is responsible for supervision, staffing, and scheduling of all Nursing and Behavioral Health Staff during their shift. Serves as first-line administrator in consultation with the Nursing Administrator on Call and D.O.C. as needed. Provides clinical support for decision making as well as direct patient care. Ensures that policies and procedures are observed. Responsibilities

Is accountable for creating and supporting a workplace culture of safety, including team approaches to patient safety, promoting reporting of safety incidents, and focusing on staffing, communication, and prevention of adverse outcomes.

Accountable to support the Hospital-wide patient safety program in all areas.

R rounds on all units during the shift; obtain report from all charge RNs at the start and end of the shift.

Serve as a member of the code team, leading as necessary.

Ensure adequate staff response and facilitate debriefing processes.

Provide clinical support and guidance as needed.

Act as immediate Incident Commander when situation warrants.

Identify and manage risk; check in with Charge RN regularly throughout the shift.

Ensure compliance with Brown University Health/Bradley policies.

Ensure adequate Nursing/Milieu staffing.

Serve as first-line nursing administrator during evening, night, weekends and holiday shifts.

Coordinate admissions including registration of patients when Patient Registration Department is closed.

Serve as off-hours liaison for Pharmacy, Laboratory and Medical Supply services.

Regularly read email and respond to pager alerts and requests in a timely manner.

Observe and enforce all general hospital policies, rules and regulations.

Ensure compliance with required NetLearning assignments and certifications without lapse, independent of reminders.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Graduate of a school of nursing with current license to practice as an RN in Rhode Island.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care considering aging, development, and cultural patterns.

Maintain current SafetyCare and AHA BLS certification and Lead RN training.

Experience: Three to five years of recent acute psychiatric nursing experience. Two years of hospital supervisory experience preferred.

Pay Range $42.58-$85.17
