Overview
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position with Nebraska Methodist Health System. Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - Westroads Office Park III, 1120 N. 103rd Plaza - Omaha, NE. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, hours between 8am - 5pm, 4 or 5 days/week (36 - 40 hrs/week). The LPN assists physicians by reviewing records, preparing patients/exam rooms, and handling prescription renewals/inquiries. Responsibilities
Joint (Floor and Phone) – Medical Home: document all lab procedures and appointments on tracking forms; complete tracking forms and follow up on missed appointments and procedures. Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed. Provide patient and family education per provider direction; recommend appropriate community resources as needed. Educate/instruct patients according to provider direction (high compliance). Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs; report patient condition to provider and advise patient per provider instructions. Receive and return patient calls within 90 minutes based on medical priority. Accurately record and report patient condition according to department policy. Maintain clean and organized work areas; ensure healthy environmental conditions. Handle prescription renewals/inquiries to facilitate patient care; discuss questions with provider and relay information to pharmacy. Dispense medications as directed by a provider; provide education to patient and family on medication use. Perform phlebotomy and related procedures with proper labeling and handling of specimens; complete requisitions and perform quality control activities. Ensure accurate order entry and complete documentation with high accuracy. Floor
Prepare exam rooms and equipment; stock supplies; set up instruments for treatment and examination. Prepare patient for provider exam by reviewing medical records, weighing, checking vital signs, medication reconciliation, and gathering relevant information. Assist providers to facilitate patient treatment by retrieving tests and medical records, and obtaining lab work as directed. Dispense medications as directed; educate patient and family on medication use. Support lab work and tests by obtaining necessary tests, records, and lab results. Adhere to clinic policies for patient preparation and procedures; maintain accuracy in order entry and documentation. Phone
Answer and route phone calls according to protocol; respond to messages promptly. Provide test results per protocol; assist with pharmacy refills as directed. Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Experience
Previous LPN/medical experience preferred. Phlebotomy experience required (Floor only). License/Certifications
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS strongly preferred at time of hire; required within 3 months of hire. Current LPN license; valid multistate compact license or temporary permit while awaiting licensure required. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures. Knowledge of medicines, diseases, deformities, and other illnesses. Time management and prioritization skills. Typing and computer literacy for patient information entry. Compassionate patient care communication with patients and families.
