Responsible for improving quality and outcomes for the organization by ensuring appropriate clinical documentation meets national registry guidelines and regulatory requirements. This position completes case finding, abstracting, and longitudinal patient follow‑up to meet established standards. This role ensures all clinical elements accurately reflect the care provided for accurate state, federal, and public reporting. In addition, this position reviews patient diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes across the care continuum. Additionally, this role alerts leadership of potential discrepancies in documentation or clinical care variation. Responsibilities for this role include case finding, abstracting, follow‑up, ensuring accurate reporting, and alerting leadership to discrepancies. Value You’ll Bring To The Team
Identifies and escalates clinical variability or documentation discrepancies from national guidelines to leadership for timely intervention. Uses critical thinking and independent judgment to determine appropriate categorization of data elements and outcomes when conflicting clinical information is present. Tracks cancer patients longitudinally throughout the continuum at required intervals to maintain follow‑up and meet regulatory deadlines. Utilizes multiple avenues such as phone calls, physician offices, and written communication to obtain follow‑up information. Maintains a professional work environment conducive to achieving accuracy and productivity goals and completes independent validation of abstraction prior to registry submission. Qualifications
Associate degree [Required] 2 Years of cancer registry abstraction experience [Required] Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) [Required] This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti‑discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
