JOB SUMMARY The Microbiology Lab Technician is responsible for media making, growth promotion, housekeeping, and conducting experiments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling all samples and biohazard.
Perform microbiological and stability testing of raw materials, bulk, finished products, samples, and prepare documentation per procedure (Microbial Enumeration and Specified Microorganism (MET) testing per USP 60, 61, 62).
Sample and perform microbiological testing of water per procedure.
Perform Purified/Source Water testing per USP 1231.
Conduct environmental monitoring activity per procedure.
Perform plate reads and incubations.
Maintain stock culture inventory and perform gram staining.
Prepare culture media and perform growth promotion testing on media per SOPs.
Wash glassware, perform general housekeeping, and disinfect lab area.
Maintain laboratory inventory.
Verify pH meter, analytical balance, incubators, thermometers, autoclave, refrigerators, Biological Safety Cabinet, etc.
Keep current with FDA, ISO, EU, and cGMP standards and industry trends.
Complete documentation of lab testing.
Handle biohazard safely.
Ensure data interpretation is correct and results are effectively communicated to appropriate groups.
Conduct investigations when necessary.
Cross‑train to ensure full functionality on all laboratory equipment and methods.
May work Saturday hours to support manufacturing as needed.
WHO YOU ARE
Have an associate degree or certificate in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Medical Technology, Life Sciences, or related disciplines (on‑job training provided).
Have at least one year in a cGMP laboratory or manufacturing environment (helpful but not required).
Understand the importance of GMP and quality.
Interpret problems and prepare concise, accurate communication for management.
Able to organize and manage time effectively.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques; previous lab experience preferred.
Expert in Windows applications (Word, Excel).
Team player with a willingness to learn.
Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Required: wear PPE. Standing 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; walking 1/3 to 2/3; sitting 1/3 to 2/3; use hands and fingers for tasks over 2/3; climb or balance under 1/3; reach with hands and arms over 2/3; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl under 1/3; lift up to 10 pounds over 2/3; lift up to 25 pounds 1/3 to 2/3; lift up to 50 pounds under 1/3.
