Position Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVIS) Technologist utilizes technical skills to deliver direct and indirect patient care in compliance with regulatory and department processes during a variety of Cardiovascular, Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology, or Neuro Interventional procedures. The goal is to provide an efficient, comfortable, and safe examination of all patients. The CVIS Tech is proficient in all aspects of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including preparation, assessment, documentation, and monitoring, in accordance with policies, procedures, and processes. The CVIS Tech is responsible for achieving system and department goals, as well as quality and fiscal targets.
Primary Accountabilities
Performs diagnostic procedures in at least one of the Heart and Vascular Laboratory areas, such as interventional coronary, electrophysiology, radiology, or neurology.
Operates all aspects of monitoring, recording, scrubbing, holding room responsibilities, and/or stimming with professionalism and expertise.
Prepares patient using aseptic technique as dictated by the procedure, ensuring safety and adherence to radiation safety standards.
Recognizes and communicates electrocardiographic/hemodynamic changes to physicians and staff, recognizing potential emergencies and implementing preventative measures.
Assists in moving, lifting, or positioning patients appropriately and maintains patient privacy during procedures.
Documents procedures accurately, maintaining record security and following protocols for amendments.
Ensures proper documentation of supplies and medications for patient charges, utilizing hospital inventory systems.
Facilitates patient throughput and participates in inventory and supply management.
Work Experience & Qualifications
Education: Cardiopulmonary Technology, Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Respiratory Therapy, Radiological Technology, EMS-P, Surgical Technology, or completion of an On-The-Job-Training Tech program.
Licensure: Relevant state licensure or registration, such as General Radiographer Licensure, RRT, ARRT(R), etc., as applicable.
Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS within 90 days, and other specific certifications depending on specialization.
Knowledge/Skills: Ability to take call, interpret ECGs, understand cardiovascular anatomy, proficient in Microsoft Office, excellent communication skills, and ability to assess and interpret clinical data.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as Vascular Intervention Radiology VI, RCIS, RCES, or CI.
Physical Requirements
Physically agile, able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in various positions, and work in different environments, including travel between facilities.
