Impact Summary
As a Mechanical Drafter III, you will contribute significantly to the design and modification of complex mechanical systems and components, utilizing advanced drafting techniques and CAD software. Your work will enable the creation of detailed, accurate technical drawings and models that are crucial for the manufacturing and assembly of mechanical devices. This role directly supports engineering and production teams by providing the necessary documentation to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
Prepare complex mechanical drawings and computer models including multiple views, sectional profiles, and detailed assemblies.
Interpret and convert information from sketches, computer models, and verbal instructions into detailed technical drawings and specifications.
Use mathematical formulas to calculate dimensions, weights, capacities, and other technical details of mechanical components.
Select appropriate details from various sources including computer programs, catalogs, and technical guides to accurately reflect design intentions.
Resolve most problems encountered in the drafting process independently, consulting with supervisors or designers on more complex issues.
Competencies
Proficiency in CAD software and conventional drafting techniques.
Strong visualization skills to understand and depict complex design features and specifications.
Ability to work independently and resolve drafting issues without direct supervision.
Good communication skills for effective interaction with engineers, designers, and other team members.
Attention to detail and precision in the creation of technical drawings and documentation.
Requirements Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, plus completion of a specialized course in drafting, mechanical drawing, or engineering drawing.
At least 6 years of experience in mechanical drafting, with direct experience in detailed and complex projects.li>
Proficient understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in design.
Capable of performing arithmetic computations using formulas related to drafting tasks.
US Security Clearance to the level of SECRET, required.
