HAZMAT General Laborer / Field Service Technician
Clean Harbors in Archdale, NC is seeking a Field Services Technician I to join our safety‑conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.
Base Pay Range $17.00/hr – $41.00/hr
Hourly Range - $19.00 – $20.00
Travel, On‑Call, and Emergency Response All new hires must attend a two‑week training academy; travel expenses are paid by the company and a per diem is provided. The position requires on‑call emergency response on a rotating basis every other week and occasional weekend and holiday work.

Responsibilities
Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner
Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects
Operate light and heavy equipment, handling various hand tools and powered industrial tools, working with vibration‑producing tools
Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and other protection combinations
Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Work in atmospheres and locations with potential exposure to chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive
Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and low‑clearance areas
Work at elevations, including from ladders and scaffolding
Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration
Climb ladders, scaffolding, and various containers such as trucks, tanks, and other equipment
Work extended (> 8 hrs.) time periods
Attend all compliance and safety update meetings
Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance
Safe loading and unloading of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste
Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary
Follow all local, state (provincial), and federal compliance regulations and rules
Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and other regulatory requirements
Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned
Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week
Perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials
Qualifications
Reliable transportation
Valid driver’s license
Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities
Continuing agreement to be on‑call; possible weekend/holiday work and emergency response up to 12–24 hrs.
Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical exam
Per OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard, employees in positions requiring respirators must meet facial hair standards
