Maintenance Coordinator 2/3 (Shiftwork All)
Maintenance Coordinator (MC) reports to the MSS-TA55 Maintenance Coordinator Team Leader and the Maintenance Manager. The MC supports the implementation of the Annual Maintenance Plan for the MSS-TA55 Organization and ensures the functionality and optimum availability of systems and equipment in assigned facilities/areas.
What You Will Do The MC provides direct or indirect support to the maintenance function of a facility through the execution and administrative control of a variety of maintenance programs, policies, functions, and objectives. Key responsibilities include:
Processing Facility Service Requests (FSRs) and creating accurate work orders with validated scopes, proper cost codes, and hazard analyses.
Providing clear communication lines for customers to track status and updates on FSRs, work orders, and quick‑fix/minor maintenance activities.
Co‑ordinating and scheduling Quick Fix/Minor Maintenance (QF/MM) work orders for assigned areas.
Assisting as a backup Lockout/Tag‑out Coordinator.
Tracking work order costs, participating in PM workshops, and supporting work order closeouts.
At the Maintenance Coordinator 3 level, the MC also:
Investigates, recommends, and develops method improvements impacting safety, planning, scheduling, and acceptance testing.
Provides input into PM workshops and participates in the engineering design process for modifications.
What You Need
Communication:
Ability to conceptualize and fully communicate major elements of facility maintenance to both technical and non‑technical personnel.
Business Systems & Processes:
Working knowledge of facility maintenance, construction management, CMMS use, preventive maintenance policies, and government/industry regulations.
Technical Expertise:
Understanding of physical, mechanical, electrical documents, troubleshooting, and repair of facility equipment and systems.
Maintenance Operations:
Knowledge of Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, Conduct of Engineering procedures, and facility systems communication.
Additional Requirements for Maintenance Coordinator 3:
Strategic communication skills, in‑depth knowledge of complex maintenance activities and programs, and experience recommending solutions on problems affecting Work Control.
Education/Experience:
Bachelors’ degree with minimum 5 years technical/maintenance experience (MC‑2) or 8 years (MC‑3).
Essential Job Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation) Sitting, walking, and climbing ladders/stairs.
Desired Qualifications
Experience using footprints, CMMS, or similar systems.
Active Q Clearance.
HRP Certification.
Full understanding of laboratory maintenance and facility policies.
Experience in Facility Operations, Engineering, and/or Maintenance.
Nuclear Facility Experience.
In‑depth knowledge of Lockout/Tag‑out program.
Work Location The position is onsite in Los Alamos, NM.
Position Commitment Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position for at least 1 year to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
