The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Design Unit - Section 4 – Pedestrian Ramps Program. The successful candidate will report to the Engineer-In-Charge and will be responsible for preparing contract documents, specifications, and final estimates; conducting engineering investigations; and developing contract plans and working drawings. Additional responsibilities include conducting field surveys, compiling reports, participating in engineering reviews and studies, and designing projects with minimal oversight. Authorization to work in the United States is required. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not sponsor visas. Applicants must meet all qualifying requirements at the time of application. Minimum Qualifications A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering and one year of civil engineering experience; or A baccalaureate degree and a Master's degree in civil engineering. Preferred Skills Excellent communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Knowledge of infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways) Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specs, MUTCD, AASHTO standards Understanding of NYC infrastructure and engineering practices Proficiency in Primavera P6 and ENV SP (preferred) Valid driver’s license (required) Personal vehicle (optional) This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability under the 55-a Program.
