This role is for a Manufacturing Design Engineer who will create conceptual designs, detailed machine and automation drawings, schematics, and technical documentation, with a strong focus on precision and accuracy using 2D/3D CAD (CREO). Responsibilities
Create conceptual designs and detailed machine and automation drawings, schematics and technical documentation for new manufacturing equipment and automation cells. Design innovative, cost-effective, capable manufacturing tools, equipment, and fixtures. Identify issues and implement solutions related to the manufacturing process or equipment. Collaborate closely with Generac manufacturing sites to balance design intent with machine performance. Produce documentation related to proper equipment usage, maintenance, and technical procedures. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering 5+ years of experience designing standalone manufacturing equipment and automated manufacturing cells Preferred Qualifications
At least 5 years of relevant experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Design, or related field Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes Proficient in 3D CAD software (Creo and AutoCAD) Team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at various organizational levels internally and externally Innovative and creative problem solver with meticulous attention to detail Comfortable with change and ambiguity with the ability to quickly propose solutions given limited guidance Proficiency in reading and developing electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics/diagrams Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills Familiarity with automation concepts, conveyors, and robotics Self-directed individual with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently Understanding of lean tools, principles, and methodology Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25-50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
