Troubleshooting, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, and repairing PLCs, VFDs, Instrumentation and Controls, electrical equipment, motors, motor control centers, switch gears, lighting circuits and fixtures, running conduit, and wiring all types of new electrical/controls installations. Coordinate assignments with the appropriate people to ensure safety, environmental, quality, and production needs are met and exceeded. Repair, replace and install sensors, actuators, transformers, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, electric eyes, conduit systems, switches, defective wiring, etc. Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and replace malfunctioning parts or equipment (motors, switches, sensors, input/output boards, controllers’ servos, gears, sprockets, chains, knives, etc.) using test equipment. Troubleshoot and repair a diverse range of electrical equipment throughout the mill (Instrumentation circuits, motor control circuits up to 13.8 kilovolts, low and medium voltage drives, monitoring analyzers). Collaborate with operations, supervision, and peers to fulfill safety, environmental, quality, and production goals. Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints, one lines, loop drawings, etc. Write, edit and follow SOPs, Lockout Tagout procedures, and make recommendations for modifying preventive maintenance plans. Strive to improve reliability of plant equipment through better use of technology and precision work practices. Be available to assist in emergencies, investigations, electrical failures, property damage, and fire losses as required. Serve as a safety leader with strong safety behaviors and contribute to achieving the site safety plan’s goal of zero injuries; knowledge of the 10 Life Saving Rules. Perform basic troubleshooting of Motor Control Centers, switch gears, thermal overloads and motor starters. Maintain and install electrical equipment; assist with planning, prioritizing, and scheduling electrical maintenance with input from supervision based on operational need. Follow work order instructions, manage spare parts using plant CMMS, and provide written and verbal feedback after work is performed. Perform other related projects and assignments as business dictates. Skills and Abilities
Intermediate mechanical aptitude and advanced electrical aptitude. Effective verbal and written communication skills for conveying mechanical and electrical information. Operate yard truck, forklift, man lifts, overhead crane, hoist, hand & power tools, computing devices, and precision measuring tools. Operate and use oscilloscope, power meter, ohms meter, megger, phase rotation tester, voltage tester, and ammeter. Operate and use a Motor Circuit Analyzer and/or Vibration Analyzer (a plus). Some personal insulated electrical tools are required. Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment. Proficient with NEC, NFPA 70E, LOTO, PPE, OSHA practices, etc.; familiarity with ISA/IEEE standards is a plus. Must have color vision to identify wiring. Must read, write, and speak English; bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish preferred. Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent), with trade school journeyman level skills and four to five years of electrical experience in a heavy industrial environment (voltages up to 120, 240, 480, 2,360, 4,160, 12,500, 13,800), including steam and turbine generation. Knowledge and experience with steam/gas turbines associated with power plants (preferred). Knowledge of electrical theory, NFPA 70E, NEC; experience with PLCs, industrial controls, transformers, and motor troubleshooting and repair. Understanding of material handling systems, piping, valves, and related plant systems; GMMP knowledge is beneficial. Experience with computers and software (MS Office, CMMS, web-based applications preferred). Physical Requirements
Regular attendance is required during scheduled shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy conditions and in all physical positions; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Benefits
