The position requires a self-motivated individual with a strong mechanical background and ability and interest in engaging in production and development processes to oversee and assist in the development and manufacture of low volume, high precision glass optics. Provide process engineering oversight for equipment design and manufacturing operations to improve existing and development processes. Provide glass forming process leadership focused on process understanding, improvement, new technology and/or new product lines, including making decisions on project priorities and direction. Support developing and executing strategy. Help set and achieve project budget goals. Work closely with operators and technicians to understand and develop more robust and repeatable forming manufacturing processes. Implement recommendations for cost, process, and yield improvement for various glass forming processes. Develop experimental plans/reports as required to support process improvement and product development. Track development parts and samples through their process flow, coordinating across layout, finishing, and metrology functions. Troubleshoot quality issues to determine root cause and implement solutions. Work with trades and other mechanical support groups to submit and track work orders. Adherence to all safety procedures. Anticipate travel up to 10% for this role, potentially including international travel. Experiences/Education - Required
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Engineering or Physical Sciences). Master’s Degree a plus. 7+ years of Ceramic, Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, or similar engineering experience, including internships and research assistant roles. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge and familiarity with drafting software. US Citizenship required. To comply with government contract requirements, if offered employment, you will need to provide documentation of U.S. citizen status. Experiences/Education - Desired
Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering; advanced degree preferred. Strong statistical background. Strong computer skills including CAD experience. Ability to work with plant equipment engineering group and Trades on new equipment designs to improve process performance. Teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate with diverse personnel. Ability to prioritize, work independently, multitask in a fast-paced team environment. Thoroughness, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Excellent observation and data recording skills with understanding of equipment, testing, and experimental procedures. Good interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, and communication skills. This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The compensation range for this position is $94,161.00 - $129,472.00 annually for full-time status.
