Postdoctoral Associate — Genetics of organ function and evolution The Hopkins Lab ( www.hopkins-lab.com ) in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, University of Florida, is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will use computational and experimental approaches to study the architecture and evolution of gene circuits that underlie organ function and development in Drosophila and beyond. Responsibilities
Study the architecture and evolution of gene circuits that underlie organ function and development in Drosophila and beyond using computational and experimental approaches. Contribute to understanding how cell types and their functions are encoded in the genome; how organ-level physiology emerges from multiple specialized cell types; and the genetic mechanisms by which organs and cell types evolve. Employ a range of approaches including gene regulatory network reconstruction, comparative genomics, genome editing, and single-cell ‘omics. Work on multiple projects in these broad areas depending on the successful applicant's interests. Qualifications
Required:
PhD in Genetics, Genomics, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Evolutionary Biology, or related fields. Preferred:
Demonstrated expertise in genetics, genomics, gene regulation, cell biology, computational biology, developmental biology, and/or evolutionary biology. Previous experience with Drosophila and single-cell data is preferred but not essential. Salary
Expected Salary : $58,656 - $62,652 Annually. Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Special Instructions To Applicants
