The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking an 80-100% Physician Assistant for our Davenport clinic. The PA will support Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and General Gynecology patients through a variety of mechanisms including EPIC, My Chart, telemedicine, referrals and direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Performs postoperative follow up for outpatient gynecologic oncology patients.

Performs approved routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Manages treatment of patients going through reproductive endocrinology or in vitro fertilization according to written guidelines.

Performs physical exams.

Documents findings in medical record, entering medical notes into the patient record.

Performs, orders and interprets routine laboratory tests; performs follow-up notification to patients about results.

Makes appropriate referral to medical staff of healthcare provider depending on patient needs.

Establishes and evaluates plans of patient care and outcome on a continuing basis.

Accurately and appropriately complete documentation of patient care in EMR and other records for compliance, billing and other regulatory standards; lead and participate in quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives.

Provides health education to patients and families; educates APP's and other members of the health care team; participates in ongoing research and professional development; serves on committees to enhance patient care and operations.

Possesses understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Has extensive knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Required Qualifications

Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners, including graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to serve as a liaison and collaborate with physicians, staff, patients, and customers.

Reasonable clinical and outpatient delivery of service experience (1-3 years).

Desired Qualifications

Previous clinical experience in Women’s Health.

Previous clinical experience with gynecologic oncology or infertility patients.
