Base pay range $86,739.00/yr - $86,739.00/yr
Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position Under general supervision, performs a variety of ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative to assist in the medical diagnosis and assessment of patients. Acts in compliance with NYC Health + Hospitals, health care setting, and other appropriate regulatory requirements and patient safety standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Selects appropriate software and imaging parameters, when positioning and adjusting equipment to encompass the area to be studied and produce optimal diagnostic imaging quality.
Performs more advanced ultrasound procedures on patients. Deviates from the normal ultrasound examination to complete the procedure, when necessary.
Assists physicians and other health care personnel by providing information regarding the nature, scheduling or results of procedures performed within the Ultrasound Department.
Assists in the development of new tests by performing comparison studies and clinical trials, and implements these new procedures.
May plan, schedule, and coordinate the day‑to‑day activities of the department to ensure the continuous flow of work.
Participates in the development of quality control and quality assurance procedures and instructs other appropriate technical personnel on aspects of their routine use.
Conducts training programs in ultrasonography and monitors effectiveness of programs.
Effectively uses electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient encounters and access pertinent patient data and imaging results; keeps other detailed and accurate patient records and results.
Participates in departmental meetings, internal/external quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI) activities and training, as required.
Performs the work of the Ultrasound Technologist and other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid certification in Sonography issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI);
One (1) year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist or Sonographer.
