About the Position: The Wastewater Plant Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance operations for the City’s wastewater treatment plant and lift stations, ensuring safe and efficient performance. The Utilities Department provides high quality drinking water and wastewater services that are reliable and affordable for our customers and support managed growth of the community, while incorporating responsible stewardship of natural resources and protecting public health. The Persigo wastewater system consists of 580 miles of sewer, 26 lift stations, and a 12.5 million gallons per day (mgd) wastewater treatment plant. The wastewater treatment plant is the largest treatment works in the western rocky mountain region and is currently undergoing modernization and expansion to 15.0 mgd. This facility uses advanced technologies such as biotrickling filters for odor control, primary clarifiers, aeration basins, anaerobic digesters, UV disinfection, and an effluent diffuser to treat wastewater to a high standard and return clean water to the Colorado River. The City was the first to implement a biogas recovery system in Colorado for the beneficial use of renewable energy in City vehicles and Grand Valley Transit buses. What You'll Do
Lead and support staff through supervisors, including hiring, training, development, and managing staffing costs. Provide or coordinate staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies, and implement discipline procedures. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and service standards for the maintenance team. Monitor and report key performance indicators of workgroup performance. Ensure safety programs, policies, and procedures are understood and followed by staff. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license. City of Grand Junction Leadership Track certification within two (2) years of appointment. Lead and coordinate significant maintenance activities and capital projects. What We're Looking For Four (4) years of plant maintenance and repair experience in a commercial or industrial setting including one (1) year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility. High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized training in the areas of mechanical equipment maintenance and repair or related field. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Notice to Applicants
