Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II. The Mobile Diesel Technician II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Diesel Technician II can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. The Diesel Technician II continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful Diesel Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics. Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, starters/alternators, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and other components. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, air conditioning, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and related systems. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of the vehicle. Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent assigned tasks with effective prioritization of work and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work per company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using the TRAIT application on an iOS device. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion. Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within or near standard repair times where applicable. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs. Communicate with management and support team for approvals on repair estimates and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Maintain company-issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' related experience. Alternatively, related discipline with higher-level degree/certification or 5 years' related experience. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Meet DOT/FMCSA requirements, including successful completion of a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required. Must be at least 21 years of age due to interstate operating authority. Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Certifications

ASE T8 (PMI) certification Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), and T608/609 certifications. Skills & Abilities

Ability to understand the implications of new information for problem-solving and decision-making. Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; capable of moderately heavy labor. Strong communication skills; able to convey information clearly and engage in two-way communication. Ability to determine tools and equipment needed for tasks and to assess distances and spatial relations. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and approaches to problems. Hourly base pay range: $26.06 – $39.13/hour. Compensation may vary by location and candidate qualifications; additional compensation such as incentives may apply.
