Director of Sterile Processing (Full‑Time) Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center (OASC) is a busy outpatient surgery center seeking a professional and energetic Sterile Processing Technician to work 8‑hour shifts 2:30 pm‑11 pm.

Summary

Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, assembles, wraps, and sterilizes trays.

Follows proper Standard Precautions in decontamination and sterilization areas.

Monitors biological and chemical wash solutions to ensure quality and consistency.

Sorts instrument sets, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner.

Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and equipment storage areas.

Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions maintenance, repairs, replacements, and removes defective equipment.

Maintains a clean work area.

Assists with maintaining departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills.

Orthopedic experience preferred.

Educational Requirements

High‑school graduate or equivalent.

Proficiency and understanding of medical terminology in the SPD department.

Must have SPD certification.

Experience

Orthopedic experience preferred.

Total joint experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification

Sterile Processing & Distribution Certification.

Special Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Standing or walking most of the day; sufficient mobility and strength to move throughout department and lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.

Pushing and pulling sterilizer carriages, case carts, and wire supply carts; heavy lifting or bending associated with decontaminating soiled instruments, laundry placement, and garbage from the operating room.

May be exposed to blood, sharp objects, and infectious diseases.

May be required to wear personal protective equipment for lengthy periods of time.
