Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Modeling & Simulation System Engineering Manager for Orchard Park, NY. Relocation assistance is provided.
The expected annual salary range is $123,750 - $181,500 per year, and the position is eligible for a variable incentive program.
What You’ll Do This role supports research and new product development in Eaton’s Aerospace Mission Systems Division (MSD). MSD delivers components and systems for space life support and propulsion, air‑to‑air refueling, weapons storage and release systems, and environmental systems.
Primary Function The Modeling & Simulation System Engineering (M&S_SE) Manager builds, leads, and champions a team of M&S and Systems Engineers to contribute to development and sustainment of MSD products and systems.
Essential Functions
Provide technical oversight of the M&S_SE team, reviewing analysis plans and ensuring the technical quality of deliverables.
Build proactive communication paths with product teams to ensure analysis and systems engineering support risk mitigation, test plan development, and critical design decisions.
Perform functional management responsibilities, including resource management, career development, performance reviews, and alignment of goals with business objectives.
Develop standard work practices and lessons learned, leveraging other Aerospace M&S groups and leadership as appropriate.
Provide labor hour estimates and rationale to support proposal and business development requests; participate in gate reviews representing the M&S teams.
Define and own metrics to measure the adoption of the “analysis first” M&S mindset and culture.
Drive cultural change at the site, demonstrated through IPT‑driven requests for inclusion of M&S_SE work beyond traditional deliverables.
Serve as a peer reviewer, technical mentor, and consultant to the local site and other MSD and Aerospace sites as needed.
Participate in root‑cause corrective action investigations and technical design reviews for the M&S_SE groups.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum 15 years of experience supporting modeling and simulation and/or systems engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience conducting system performance analysis of mechanical systems and components.
Minimum 5 years of experience leading system integration and systems engineering methodologies to support product development.
Minimum 3 years of functional management experience.
Compliance with ITAR; all applicants must be U.S. persons.
Ability to work in the U.S. without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
20+ years of combined experience supporting M&S and/or SE teams.
Experience in the aerospace industry.
Direct experience with SIMSCAPE/SIMULINK, AMESIM, ADAMS (or similar).
Direct experience with DOORS and/or CAMEO.
Demonstrated experience working with global teams.
Membership in a professional society related to the discipline (e.g., ASME, SAE).
Knowledge of Simulation Process Data Management (SPDM).
DFSS Green Belt certification or ability to complete within one year.
Skills & Position Criteria
