Mechanical Engineer II – REV Group, Inc Requisition ID: 25678

Scope Develop world‑class, robust engineering solutions for the Fire Apparatus industry, including the design and development of systems installed on Fire Trucks that save lives worldwide. The Engineer is responsible for all stages of a product from research and development, through design and manufacturing, to test, evaluation, and aftermarket care.

Essential Functions

Use 3D design and analysis software to ensure design integrity.

Continuously develop processes related to efficient, automated information flow from sales configuration tools, through design configurators, to automated manufacturing tools.

Conduct research and analysis of customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.

Finalize design requirements, manage system interfaces, and release engineering packages to production.

Develop plans for compliance to regulatory standards, adopted engineering standards, and good engineering practices; review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, or details.

Apply design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure ease of assembly and maintainability, producing an optimal total package cost that meets specified price points.

Fulfill customer requirements (e.g., shop orders) while considering design rules and interface points.

Verify designs through calculations and other analytical techniques; assist designers in structural design using drafting tools or CAD/DWG software.

Create and manage indented BOMs in adherence to company standards; fully utilize engineering configuration tools for BOM and design automation.

Execute cost‑saving projects through value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.

Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes with emphasis on metal fabrication and assemblies.

Use lean principles in manufacturing and business processes.

Execute engineering changes through established processes and documentation.

Influence and lead others without direct supervision or authority.

Become a subject matter expert on regulatory standards – NFPA, DOT, FMVSS, ULC, etc.

Mentor team members on design principles and regulatory standards.

Senior level positions may require leadership and/or supervision of a small group of engineers or designers.

Minimum Requirements

4 years bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

2 to 5 years of hands‑on experience.

Advanced knowledge and practical use of drawing and drafting standards.

Proficiency in CAD systems – Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.

Knowledge of NFPA standards related to Fire Apparatus is beneficial but not required.
