Mechanical Engineer Actalent is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support our engine development programs in Austin, Texas. The role is contract-to-hire and focuses on both design and qualification activities across the product development lifecycle.

Job Description This position involves design, analysis, testing, and production support for aircraft turbine systems. The engineer will work on micro‑turbine and turbo‑generator systems, perform static and dynamic mechanical analysis, utilize PLM tools, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet program milestones.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and test micro‑turbine and turbo‑generator systems.

Perform mechanical design and analysis of static and rotating hardware in both cold and hot engine sections.

Use Siemens Teamcenter and NX for modeling, drafting, and maintaining dimensional and tolerancing documentation (ASME Y14.5).

Conduct advanced analyses (ANSYS) focusing on elastic, elastic‑plastic behavior, blade dynamics, rotor dynamics, and thermals.

Iterate design concepts to achieve cost reduction and improve design value.

Contribute to customer‑funded or internal projects, including drafting proposals.

Manage project responsibilities for engine system design and production.

Oversee hardware from digital (PLM) to physical (testing and verification).

Collaborate with team members and subject matter experts to achieve milestones.

Support task prioritization, resource allocation, and budget management.

Provide technical guidance to senior management on problem‑solving and solutions.

Assemble mechanical hardware and conduct test data acquisition.

Maintain an AS9100 quality environment following standard protocols.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent engineering discipline.

Experience in mechanical design and analysis.

Proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5).

Experience with Siemens NX (Creo or CATIA acceptable).

ANSYS and FEA experience.

Knowledge of PLM systems such as Teamcenter.

Background in aerospace, defense, or automotive industries.

Experience with turbomachinery (dynamic systems).

Knowledge of static and dynamic structural analysis.

7+ years experience for Level 3; 3+ years for Level 2.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

AS9100 quality management experience.

Thermal analysis skills.

Assembly analysis experience, including tolerance stack‑ups.

Master’s degree in engineering is a plus.

Work Environment The role is performed in an office setting in Austin, TX. The engineer will join a growing team contributing to full‑lifecycle product development.

Job Type & Location Contract to Hire – Austin, Texas.

Pay and Benefits Hourly rate: $55.00 – $85.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, short and long‑term disability, 401(k), health spending account, transportation, employee assistance, and paid time off.
