Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Fleet and Logistics, the Fleet Mechanic will work to deliver value in the organization with a focus on ensuring the Ingredients Plus fleet of CDL A tractors, dry van trailers, liquid trailers, and dry bulk trailers are operating safely, efficiently, and effectively. The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the repair of equipment in a timely manner, following all DOT, FMCSA, State, and Federal regulations.
This position is on-site at our Lakeville, NY facility. Hours for this position are: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM Saturday and Sunday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM Monday through Wednesday, and off Thursday and Friday.

Essential Functions
Diagnose failures of fleet vehicles and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary.
Computer-based diagnostics interface with modern truck interfaces.
Basic fleet maintenance (PM services, brakes, tires, minor electrical).
Adherence to DOT, FMCSA, State, and Federal regulations.
Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles.
Use power and hand tools as needed for the assigned work.
Answer road calls.
Maintain vehicle records as required.
Maintain and repair all fleet equipment, including tractors, trailers, pickup trucks, mowers, and other company equipment.
Fill out all necessary documentation.
Maintain records, such as daily checklist (pre-trip inspection).
On the job training available.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient with using fleet management software systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Positive can-do attitude.
Ability to remain flexible with changing business needs and priorities.
Basic computer use (email and web browser).
Required Education and Experience
High School or equivalent.
1+ years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
NY state inspectors license preferred.
NY State driver's license required.
CDL license is a plus but not required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, etc.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
May be exposed to outside conditions including hot, cold, and humid weather.
Employee may encounter odors, inadequate lighting, mechanical hazards, moving objects, high places, and electrical hazards.
May be exposed to fuel vapors and sudden temperature changes.
Might be exposed to petroleum based products (motor oil, hydraulic oil, diesel fuel, etc.). May be exposed to chemicals (anti-freeze, WD-40).
Travel Required The home office for this role is indicated at the top of this job description. Travel to other Ingredients Plus locations may be required as business needs arise.
