Job Description MEI has a job opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a Professional Engineer License to be an integral member of our design team. The scope of projects will include data centers, industrial buildings, offices, and other high-profile construction projects. This role will be highly collaborative with MEI staff, clients, vendors, and external disciplines. Travel to job sites may be required for site observations and client meetings.
Job Duties
Independently drive projects forward throughout design and construction phases.
Design mechanical and plumbing systems for data centers.
Oversee the production of all mechanical designs, systems, and drawings.
Work with a cross-discipline design team, owners, and contractors to develop drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with external vendors, internal design teams, and manufacturers.
Handle major equipment selection and scheduling.
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of Professional Mechanical Engineering design experience designing mechanical systems for data centers or other mission critical projects.
Valid Mechanical P.E. license and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Engineering in Training certification considered).
Experience working independently, managing priorities, and mentoring junior staff.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems and energy codes.
Strategic thinker with flexibility to achieve long-range objectives.
Self‑motivated, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated to work as part of a team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; top‑notch organization and attention to detail.
Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.
