Plant Operator (Open)3>
Location: Rochester, NY - Deep Rock - Filling industrial
The Plant Operator performs tasks on site in making or repackaging compressed and liquefied gas, including inspecting and preparing cylinders for refill, handling and filling gas products, and documenting activities in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
Responsibilities
Loads and unloads gas cylinders and other products onto and off route trucks and trailers, moving cylinders with proper carts.
Sorts empty cylinders by type.
Rolls cylinders and operates a forklift truck for movement of cylinders on pallets.
Reads cylinder labels and color-coding to understand hazards, sizes and contents; accurately labels cylinders.
Handles high-pressure, medical and liquid cylinders; prepares high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling; attaches to manifold and evacuates cylinders to remove contaminants.
Performs basic cylinder maintenance such as painting, labeling, and cleaning of the work area.
Inspects cylinders prior to filling and performs safety checks per procedures; fills cylinders by pressure and weight in compliance with regulations and standards.
Checks cylinder quantities, styles, and product, and assists with inventory as needed.
Manages paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards; completes quality control sheets as required.
Complies with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases.
Maintains a neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.
Other duties as assigned.
Starting pay rate : $21/hr
Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets, labels and other written communications.
Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to perform arithmetic in all units of measure (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
Forklift certification is required.
Physical ability to talk, walk, sit; use hands; reach; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
Ability to smell and hear leaking gas from cylinders.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and up to 800 pounds with assistance.
Minimal travel required.
Work environments include indoor and outdoor conditions with seasonal weather; temperatures from -10 to 100+ degrees.
