Responsibilities
Operate and safely maintain the high‑pressure gas repackaging plant, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local, and company policies.
Manage and lead subordinate supervisors, providing leadership to Plant Operators.
Conduct periodic checks of the plant for safe and efficient operation.
Assign job tasks to plant operators according to customer needs, current stock levels, and workers’ expertise.
Analyze production schedules and estimate man‑hour requirements for job assignment completion.
Interpret company policies and enforce safety regulations.
Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, using knowledge of capacities of machines and equipment.
Implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and changes in working conditions to increase crew efficiency.
Investigate and report injuries and accidents within 24 hours; resolve plant operation problems.
Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed, safety training is scheduled, conducted, and documented.
Provide coaching and corrective action promptly to improve performance or release unacceptable performers.
Approve overtime when essential while keeping it at acceptable levels.
Handle employee complaints, grievances, and pre‑employment documentation and physical examinations timely.
Correct unsafe acts or conditions without delay; analyze and resolve work problems.
Initiate plans to motivate workers to achieve goals and undertake personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
Train new workers and cross‑train employees to maintain production during shortages.
Maintain time and production records, ensure a neat and orderly plant appearance, and operate forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
5+ years of production experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
3+ years supervising, motivating, and leading associates.
Analytical ability with working knowledge of gas chromatography (FID, TCD, PID, NDIR) and gaseous sample analysis.
Knowledge of manometric and gravimetric gas blending procedures and laws of partial pressure.
Understanding of planning and blending mixtures containing fuel gases and oxidizers.
Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and FDA regulations as they apply to the compressed gas industry.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization, documentation, and follow‑up skills.
Mechanical aptitude and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Independence and ability to meet deadlines under pressure with a flexible schedule.
Must be able to work in a drug‑free workplace and with a wide variety of people.
Physical demands include lifting 25‑60 lbs., prolonged standing up to 8 hours, bending, stooping, and operating in temperatures ranging from –10 to over 110 °F.
