About the Family Literacy Program: MSU Denver's Family Literacy Program consists of three programs: Adult Education, Parents as Teachers, and Early Family Literacy. Position Summary: The Family Literacy Program (FLP) is seeking a GED Coordinator to provide High School Equivalency (HSE) instruction and lead the GED Preparation Team via program coordination. This is a full-time administrative/teaching position including classroom instruction, planning time, and administrative duties. Responsibilities include direct classroom instruction (one-on-one tutoring in math/science and/or language arts/social studies using approved HSE curriculum), lead intake/orientation & testing events, mentor GED Preparation Instructors, assist the Adult Education Program Director with scheduling and coaching, track student progress toward GED attainment, assist with AELA/AEFLA Grant reporting, and foster an encouraging learning environment with weekly feedback and pathways to career and higher education. This position works on the Adult Education side of FLP, which includes English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, and Family Literacy activities. The GED Preparation program is funded via the Adult Education and Literacy Act (AELA). This position reports to the Adult Education Program Director. Responsibilities

Direct classroom instruction that integrates career and post-secondary education pathways Lead student orientation, digital literacy sessions, and support with standardized testing processes Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with student goals and learning profiles, including educational and vocational planning for both GED in English and Spanish; assist GED Instructors with outreach Maintain connections with partnering agencies, including recruitment Use industry-standard software to track student progress, analyze performance data, and adapt instruction Develop curriculum for both GED in English and Spanish Collaborate with lead teaching staff on curriculum, syllabi, materials, testing and evaluation; assist with lesson planning and class preparation Fulfill all testing, record-keeping, and reporting responsibilities Act as secondary contact for Grants (AELA & AEFLA), including assessment, progress tracking, accessible design, and compliance reporting Assist learners with GED testing accommodations, requirements, and application process Manage GED Manager, Aztec accounts, LACES and other LMS accounts as necessary Participate in hiring of new staff and instructors Participate in staff professional development and training Train and mentor GED instructors and department staff; assist with observations Assist leadership with special projects (spending, programming, expansion, etc.) Coordinate with Family Literacy staff to support parent enrichment and intergenerational learning opportunities; assist AELA Navigator with workshops and program development Act as substitute for program (ESL, GED, and Workshops) Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications

B.A. in Education or related field Experience teaching adults in Spanish and English; knowledge of High School Equivalency/GED exams; familiarity with digital learning management platforms and corresponding assessment tools Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, or ability to quickly learn new learning management systems Broad knowledge of instructional techniques and strategies to adapt instruction for diverse learners across Spanish, English, and ESL 3 years of formal instructional experience in adult education ABEA (Adult Basic Education Authorization) or willingness to obtain within two years Knowledge of current adult education theory Experience with standard educational assessment tools Special Conditions of Employment

Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs. Ability to work full time in person, including some evening hours Ability to teach online and in-person at offsite locations Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in adult education or related field Understanding of College and Career Readiness Standards Experience developing and/or delivering contextualized/student-centered instruction Familiarity with state-approved HSE exams (GED) and content Familiarity with Learner management systems such as Aztec, LACES, and/or GED Manager Bilingual English/Spanish Ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of immigrant, low-income, and diverse urban populations; a commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification. Full-time Exempt Days of Week: Monday - Friday Evenings and Weekend Work: Flexibility to work occasional evening hours for meetings, recruitment, and marketing; select weekend days for start-up and back-to-school recruitment Schedule: In person at educational centers partnering with MSU Denver Family Literacy, including Westminster and Commerce City. Program office at Quigg Newton Community Center. The program does not run in July. Travel: Rarely for professional development; travel between Westminster and Commerce City a few times per week Salary for Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver provides a reasonable estimate of compensation and will not offer a salary outside the posted range. The anticipated hiring range is $55,000 - $63,000. This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits. Instructions to Apply
