The Community You’ll Care For AdventHealth Tampa is a faith‑based not‑for‑profit 626‑bed tertiary‑level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa. It specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot‑assisted procedures. GME programs on the campus include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year. AdventHealth Tampa is home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute and the Kiran C. Patel Research Institute.
Role Responsibilities The Respiratory Therapist II performs necessary routine respiratory care procedures for acute or critically ill neonatal, pediatric, or adult populations. He/She initiates and maintains appropriate therapy, including life support technique and equipment; provides corrective interventions related to the cardio‑pulmonary system; works independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; and adheres to hospital and departmental policies, procedures and all applicable regulations and standards.
Key duties include:
Provide life support and airway maintenance (manual resuscitators, airway suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy insertion, bronchoscopy, procedural respiratory support).
Respond to Code Blue emergencies immediately, performing CPR per AHA.
Use patient assessment skills, protocols and chart review to determine efficacy of therapy and make recommendations per protocol.
Document and charge procedures neatly, accurately and completely.
Assist with clinical instruction, precepting new orientee staff and serve as a resource to lower level therapists.
Practice standard precautions and enforce safety regulations.
Qualifications
AAS or AS from an AMA‑approved National Board of Respiratory Care program.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Minimum of one year clinical experience in acute care.
Current Florida State RRT license.
