If you need to request an accommodation to fully participate in the search process, please contact** **careers@vassar.edu****.****Job Description****Position Summary:**Reporting to the Manager of Building Trades, the Carpenter Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing general carpentry, door, window, lock, and glass related maintenance and repairs for all campus buildings, facilities and housing. This role is responsible for ensuring that all work is ticketed and completed in alignment with operational protocols and college policy.**Position responsibilities:*** Manages carpentry, window, door and lock work orders through the facilities operations ticketing system; determines staffing, schedules work assignments, monitors progress, evaluates quality of work and resolves the request.* Supervise a team of skilled carpenters, glazier, and locksmith including hiring, providing feedback, and effectively supporting their work through effective communication and conflict resolution.* Maintain records of work requests, completed projects and related expenses to observe trends and plan maintenance.* Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety guidelines for safe operating practices, including reporting and resolving safety issues,
to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.* Purchases equipment and supplies in alignment with Vassar purchasing policies and procedures and in coordination with other Facilities Operations leaders to ensure effective management of resources and proper reconciliation of expenses.* Coordinates work schedule with supervisors of other maintenance trade groups and outside contractors to maximize efficiency through timely completion of jobs.**Required knowledge, skills and abilities:*** High school diploma, vocational training or equivalent required.* Seven years of carpentry trade shop experience required.* Knowledge of carpentry tools, methods and mathematical skills to complete carpentry projects.* Prior supervisory and/or project management experience required.* Experience using office technology to communicate and organize work**Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:*** Experience working in a unionized environment* Experience working in higher education* Experience with using systems to track work orders**Compensation**The starting annual base salary range for this position is $77,300- $100,500 (USD)When extending an offer, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, budget, and other market and organizational considerations. The starting salary range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting.Located in the scenic Mid-Hudson Valley, Vassar College is a highly selective, residential, coeducational liberal arts college.
